Cases of coronavirus infection (COVID-19) continue to increase and so does the list of countries where warnings have been issued for travelers. It is important that you consider the following before purchasing your travel insurance policy:

  • Voluntary cancellations will not be covered– If you have already purchased a travel insurance policy and your trip has not started, you can request the cancellation of the policy and you will be refunded the amount paid for the insurance.
  • Excluded countries– You will not be able to purchase the travel policy through, CHUBB Insurance Company of Puerto Rico if your travel plans include a visit to one of the following countries:
    • China
    • Japan
    • Thailand
    • Singapore
    • South Korea
    • Italy

For these countries , travel insurance offering and subscription were suspended. In countries where there is no warning, a cancellation and disruption claim will proceed with the normal course of cancellations and disruptions. The list of excluded countries may increase.

If you have a travel cancellation or disruption, you should contact first the travel agent or airline to verify if you qualify for a refund or a change in the itinerary, free of charge.
