The surging popularity of social media has created new ways for us to communicate and engage. For companies such as Popular, these media are ideal to communicate directly, informally and constantly with you, and to listen to your opinions and comments.

Popular began to participate in the fascinating world of social media with a fan page in Facebook (www.facebook.com/popular).  Our page includes a message wall and sections with photos, financial advice (“Tus Finanzas”), community activities (“Juntos se puede”), events sponsored or organized by the Bank, polls and videos. We currently have 54,000 fans.

In the “Tus Finanzas” section, one of our expert financial planners, Kurt Schindler, will share with you useful advice and tools to help you put your finances in shape. From tips on how to save and reduce your debt to orientation about insurance and investments, Kurt will share his knowledge with you as part of our commitment of helping our clients and Puerto Rico to move ahead.  (You can find the English-language version, “My Finances”, on our website.)

Another effective vehicle to keep in touch with you is Twitter, the famous microblog with 140-character messages. We use this tool to announce activities sponsored by the Bank, presentations about financial planning, give away tickets for events and communicate information about our products and services. Your comments and replies help us to continuously improve our services. If already use Twitter and want to follow us, you’ll find us at www.twitter.com/mibanco.

We also have a blog, which you can access through the home page of www.popular.com, or directly through the link http://mibancoblog.popular.com/#HR=Blog. The blog is updated with new posts every week with information about technology, innovation, services, your money, community and culture, economy, insurance and business. If you’d like to subscribe our blog, you may use the RSS feeder for all posts, or only for those topics that are of interest to you. Take advantage of the comments section to let us know what’s on your mind.

Social media allow us to engage in a conversation – and the best thing is that you don’t necessarily need a computer to use them. Now, with your Smartphone, you can access them from anywhere, at any time. Let’s connect! We are where you are.
