Emprende con Popular: Tools for Every Stage of Your Business

Popular has developed Emprende con Popular¹, a unique proposal in Puerto Rico for entrepreneurs. With the motto “Your dream, our commitment,” the online tool provides business owners with support in their search for products, services, advice, and business management.

“We want to continue supporting and promoting the growth of small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) on the island. After a detailed analysis of the challenges faced by the business ecosystem, we aim to make this path more accessible. Emprende con Popular will allow entrepreneurs to identify the stage their business is in, learn about the resources, products and services available to get started, acquire capital, and even increase their competitiveness in the marketplace,” said Jorge García Noya, first vice president of commercial banking at Banco Popular.

Emprende con Popular, through its online portal, provides access to different support organizations that offer educational and development programs for entrepreneurs.

As a 131-year financial institution, Popular has been a vital platform for the growth of SMEs in Puerto Rico, supporting entrepreneurs throughout the different stages of their business’s life cycle through grants to allied organizations.

“This new proposal is an effort to continue promoting innovation and business development in Puerto Rico,” García Noya added.

In 2023, Popular invested $1.4 million in 11 organizations through its ScaleUp Popular Business Accelerator Program. In addition, it supported 642 companies through access to capital, training, and mentoring.

Another program with a positive impact on the island’s business ecosystem is StartUp Popular, launched in 2015. To date, it has provided 273 companies with more than $9.2 million in financing and over 6,000 hours of mentoring.
